The Quiet Integrity Of Japanese Interior Design

The key point of all Japanese Interior Design is natural serenity, unostentatious refinement or, wabi, as the Japanese call it. While bright, bold colors are still used everywhere in Japan, they are done with restraint and they are used to express a profound awareness or concept of ying and yang. Colors, as well as other elements that are opposites, must work together in harmony. The balancing of light and space is the beginning element for all Japanese Interior Design.

Light is diffused and living and sleeping areas are flexible and usually have moveable screens. Some sleeping areas are futons put on the floor at night, then packed up during the day and stored for more living space. This might seem very strange for westerners, but it is the Japanese way of life. Japanese Interior Design is a simple form of design if you understand the underlying principles. Ignoring these principles will make Japanese Interior Design very difficult for the average Interior Designer.

The Japanese Home

The Japanese home is a private sanctuary hidden away from the chaos and hectic challenges of the world outside. The traditional dwellings are made from natural, organic materials, such as clay, straw, paper, woods (both hardwoods and bamboo) and stone. Japanese Interior Design also makes use of water, natural light and greenery. Again, the use of the ying and the yang are seen as the inside dweller is bringing the outside in to live in harmony. This timeless design is still a fascination to most designers.

The Japanese room is known for its clean lines and uncluttered look. There is furniture in a Japanese room, however, not very many pieces. The colors of Japanese Interior Design are usually quite subdued, showing preference for colors that are soft and quietly restrained. These colors are drawn from neutral palettes, incorporating grays, beiges, browns and off-whites. The majority of Japanese color schemes are monochromatic and lend themselves to dark hardwoods, polished concrete, bamboo or stones and pebbles.

The sliding doors in Japanese Interior Design are known as shoji screens, fusuma doors and ranma transoms. Another standard in Japanese homes are their floors. These innovative floors are a tatami mat flooring system. The tokonoma alcove is another element of the Japanese Interior Design home. This alcove is a spot for family treasures and artwork or seasonal decorations. You might find a bonsai, hanging scroll or ikebana displayed in the tokonoma alcove. This alcove serves as a similar role to a mantle over a fireplace in a Western home. If you are interested in reading an interesting interior design book, than a book on Japanese Interior Design is the book you should read as the Japanese are indeed a fascinating culture to study.

How Can Office Interior Design Affect Office Productivity

Interior design for most of us is simple a stuff that makes our room look nice. There are large windows for filling our room with light, an expensive and luxurious carpet remains for making everything extremely cozy along with some antique furniture that is well enough to raise someones eyebrow with bringing prompt conversation. However, all this belongs to the home interior designing, but if we talk about the office interior designing, the most of this is expected to lie behind the choices made with respect to the floor and furniture plan. However, all this is just not true.

While, there always remains a desire for the creation of a work environment that pleases to the eye, there are numerous reasons for making the investment in this field as well. The particular design of the office is also a desire of most of the entrepreneur to invest in it that encourage the positive environment to the employees with regards to confidence, calmness and imagination and considering the practical aspects with respect to initiation, industry and communication. Generally, the overall advantage it brings to a business related to the high quality and high level of work accomplishment in the generated and planned manner.

Such factors have already been undertaken by most of the modern offices along with the older offices usually, where the cramped conditions were offered to the employees. However, if you have opted for the refurbishment of your office, it does not necessarily mean that you are spending for the good fortune. Numerous highly effective and cost supportive options are also there for the offices depending upon their size as well as population.

Earlier, it was though that any employee will be happy only when he has finished his tasks by the end of the day successfully. Now, these all things have not remained all. However, the modern offices of this new world requires much more than just ensuring that if they will get overloaded with the work, this will only make their boss happy and not to them.

This good feeling will move on continuously and this could be accomplished in the three major ways. Usage of light, space and the actual furniture on which they sit every day comprises these entire three major constituent.

Comforts with the furniture comprise the major factor to keep the employees of an organization happy in the long run and this is quite logical aspect. However, a luxurious area is provided to the employees to get relaxed with an environment of extreme comfort. This brings the mental satisfaction as well among the employees with the free flow of ideas and enthusiasm towards work.

The modern offices with extremely fabulous interior designs offer endless benefits than just a place of work for the employees as there are some offices the value of which will never die. They intend to create a happy working space as an endorsement to the old adage confirming that a happy worker can only give the optimum productivity.

Interior Design – Give Your Bathroom a Neat and Fresh Look

Considering the interior design of a bathroom is a must even though we do not tend to give much importance to it while renovating our homes or building a new home. Designing of bathrooms is very important as this is the room that is used at the start and at the end of the day. Hence, it has a lot of potential to influence your mood. A bath can help you get a fresh start to the day and it can also help in getting a sound sleep after a long tiring day.

While designing your bathroom’s interior, you must consider various things like the style, color and the mood that the room should have. You must also choose a design that not only suits you but a design that will be liked by your friends and relatives who come to visit you at home. You can start off by checking the pipes that are present inside the bathroom. If they are visible, you can get them covered.

Bathrooms should be sufficiently illuminated as per your desire. You may also go for natural lighting by installing a wall skylight or roof skylight. If you prefer artificial lighting you can simply install an overhead light or lightings on both sides of the vanity mirror. You must also make sure that the room has proper ventilation so that fresh air is always coming in from outside. Ventilation should also allow the humid and moisture filled air inside the bathroom to move out. This can be done by installing a ventilator or ventilating fans.

Neat looking tiles are one of the most important things that you should consider while you design your bathroom’s interior as they make your bathroom not only clean but also attractive. To make your bathroom look beautiful, you can place same color tiles on the floor and different color tiles on the wall. You may try placing the tiles diagonally on the floor to give it an unusual look.

If you do not organize your things properly inside the bathroom, your bathroom may be cluttered with all sorts of things that you use (or actually not use ). Hence, you must give great importance to keeping the toiletries organised so that you do not waste any space. Installing shelves and cabinets can be a very good idea to arrange your things inside the room.

Apart from all the above, you must also make sure that the bathtub, sink and commode go well in terms of color and design with the overall look of your bathroom. After all, the interior design of your bathroom is on the line! Good luck with your bathroom design project.

Principles Of Interior Design

Scientifically one can break interior design down into a few design principles. But be aware because these are not rules, rather see the principles as fundamental underpinnings for a feeling, flair or intuition to interior design.

Principle 1: UNITY

When doing interior design it is necessary to think of the house as a totality; a series of spaces linked together by halls and stairways. It is therefore appropriate that a common style and theme runs throughout. This is not to say that all interior design elements should be the same but they should work together and complement each other to strengthen the whole composition. A way to create this theme or storyline is with the well considered use of color.

Principle 2: FOCAL POINT

Interior design’s biggest enemy is boredom. A well-designed room always has, depending on the size of it, one or more focal points. A focal point must be dominant to draw attention and interesting enough to encourage the viewer to look further. A focal point thus must have a lasting impression but must also be an integral part of the decoration linked through scale, style, color or theme.

Principle 3:BALANCE

Balance can be described as the equal distribution of visual weight in a room.
The simplest, and most formal type of balance is symmetrical balance, where the same objects are repeated in the same positions on either side of a vertical axis, such as one would find in old fashioned state or gala rooms.

Asymmetrical balance is more appropriate in design today. Balance is achieved with some dissimilar objects that have equal visual weight or eye attraction. Asymmetrical balance is more casual and less contrived in feeling, but more difficult to achieve.

Principle 4: PROPORTION

Proportion refers to the relative size measured against other elements or against some mental norm or standard. This design principle is of extreme importance when decorating a room.

Principle 5: RHYTHM

In musical terms we would describe rhythm as the beat or pulse of the music. In interior design, rhythm is all about visual pattern repetition. Visual rhythm is based on movement. As in music, rhythm in design can also be staccato – abrupt and dynamic or legato – connecting and flowing.

Principle 6: COLOR

Color is an element that tends to inspire emotion in people because color has an influence on the value of life above and beyond other considerations. Colors therefore have a definite impact on the atmosphere that you want to create when doing interior design.

Principle 7: DETAILS
